Our
first sight of the Great wall of China was at Jiayugan Fort – the
most western point of the Great Wall of China.
The
fort itself was a bit of a disappointment for most of us. It had
almost been totally restored but not really with a respect for the
way it was originally build. It just looks like a new building. There
was also a show with dancers and fighters which only added to the
impression of being in a theme park rather than at an old historical
point.
For tonight wild camping was planned but for a while it seemed like it wasn't possible. China isn't the best country for camping. Most land has been built on, it's farmed or just fenced with barbed wire. But we did succeed in finding a fabulous spot for our camp. Right next to the Great Wall of China! We could see some of the wall going up the hill. Very impressive. The wall here is a bit different from the part most people know near Beijing it's adobe unlike the stone sections further to the east.
In the evening some of us played the game where you have to guess famous people. First you can tell all you want about the persons and your team have to guess, next round you can only use one word to describe the persons and in the last round you can't say anything but has to act to describe the persons.
