Woke up to a grey morning in Lanzhou. Not the prettiest place to wake up. Had a very basic breakfast at a street vendor conveniently placed outside the hotel. Omelette with some vegetables - and a soy milk.
Drive out of Lanzhou was pretty easy even though it was the morning rush hour. Still amazed by how bad the Chinese drive. Many of them must really believe in a better after-life since they don't seem to care about their current life. Or maybe they just don't understand the physics of a 15 ton truck vs a car or a scooter.
Highway was ok most of the way to Pingliang, so we arrived early in the afternoon, got our room and went out for lunch. All food places seemed to be closed, so we ended up buying some in the supermarkets and taking it to a - Tuborg - beer square. We stayed there for a couple of hours with Kate, were almost the only ones there. Got a bit of company from Janice, Lotti and David. And of course the locals who wanted photos with us.
Yan suggested to go to a restaurant to try hot pots for dinner. Unfortunately the restaurant changed from "hot pot" to "regular chinese" so it was just a normal restaurant but we still had a good evening. We were the main attraction in the restaurant for the other guests, waiters and chefs took pictures of us. Back to the hotel - getting ready for tomorrows temple day in the mountains.
