Not much to say about the day. We decided to not do anything since we had a night bus and some unknown connection in Bago to Mawlamyine the next morning. So better relax a bit before 12 hours or more of unknown transportation.
We stayed at the motel, got a lot of online stuff done including applying for Visa on arrival in Vietnam and booking hotels ahead in some of the towns we are planning to visit. The internet here works, it is slow and from time to time unavailable. So having access also means using it. We headed out for a late lunch in the afternoon, had iced coffee for dessert and went back to the motel, everything packed. Then the friendly owners offered us a shower before the bus ride. Great. We were picked up by a tuk tuk and taken to the bus station, our VIP bus arrived, baggage loaded and then inside the big ice box. Why are they so happy about 16 degree C air condition in so many places in the world.
The bus was big, new and clean, with a 2+1 seat layout which meant a lot of space for us. And comfortable seats. After a couple of hours we had a short dinner break, managed to eat some rice and veggies before continuing. We knew we would have a very early arrival in Bago and managed to get a few hours of sleep in the bus before we arrived on the main street of Bago at 5:20 AM, luggage off loaded from the bus and the make shift bus office, which consisted of plastic chairs and a single desk would be our place to wait for the next couple of hours.
