Heading to Thailand (Managua-Houston-Los Angeles (MGA-IAH-LAX))

The alarm went off at 5 AM. With five connecting flights ahead of us the next days we didn't want to miss the first one. At 6 we were in the taxi having negotiated a price way below the standard USD 20 price for airport rides. We were dropped off at 6:30 at the airport and the plane left on time for Houston where we had a short connection. A way too short connection but Mikkel hadn't thought about that when he booked the tickets many weeks ago.

We arrived according to schedule in Houston and rushed out the plane, through immigration, baggage reclaim, baggage drop off and security and managed to be at the gate for our Los Angeles flight after 43 minutes. Never done before. We left Houston on time and touched down in Los Angeles according to plan, got our luggage, found a shuttle bus to the other terminal and realised that we would have to wait 3 hours until check in opened. So we had coffee, cupcakes and M&M's while we waited. At the check in the nice EVA AIR guy changed our seating to the emergency exit which meant plenty of legroom for the next flight - the 14 hour nonstop flight to Taipei.

We celebrated our "2 down - 3 flights to go" with some good sushi before boarding the flight at 11 PM and then taking off shortly after. The first couple of hours were a bit choppy but we managed to get some good sleep later. 14 hours to go. Long flight.
