More travel stuff

It's getting closer. Had a lot of friends over for dinner and drinks this weekend. Nice to see each and every one of them and have time to chat about our plans for the trip.

Called the Turkmenistan embassy in Berlin this week. They expected the visa to be ready Friday. Maybe. And then a lot of nagging about them having to mail our passports back to Denmark. "Why didn't we just come and pick them up?". "Because we live in another country!".

Fingers still very much crossed for our passports to make it back home in some kind of magic way. It's getting a little too close for comfort.

In other news - more travel stuff is accumulating at home. A good sign that departure is getting closer.

One more visa for the collection. Last one for Turkmenistan to be prepared and mailed to Berlin tonight....

It takes a dream....

It's countdown time. Three weeks until departure. The list of practicalities is getting greener, passports are still stuck somewhere between Bruxelles and Copenhagen. But the dream is very much alive.

So much that it has materialised into a plan, a booked trip from Istanbul to Ulaanbataar, a few plane tickets and lots of dreams about places to visit and things to do.

The map gives a rough idea about our plans for the coming year. Contrary to our last trip we do not have have too many things booked in advance. And this time we don't have a fixed end date.

The idea is to travel for a full year - plus/minus - through the countries and territories listed on the map. We'll start by joining this trip in Istanbul doing overland for a full 120 days. When we get to Ulaanbataar we'll be on our own visiting Canada, South America, Galapagos, Central America and a few Asian countries.

It's difficult to comprehend even though the dream has been there for a long time and the plan has materialised slowly since Autumn 2014.

More details in a few days. Will spend the next days keeping fingers crossed that our passports will return safely from Bruxelles.
