The day started with a walk to the Bagrati Cathedral. After this we drove to town and got to explore the local market with lots a fresh vegetables, cheese, sweets and walnuts. In the streets around the market you could buy chickens and cheese out the window of tiny shops and potatoes from the trunk of the cars.
After this we only did a short drive from Kutaisi to Gori, the birthplace of Stalin, We had a guided tour at the Stalin museum and his old railway carriage with a strict and effective guide who didn't leave many seconds for questions or looking at the different things before walking on.
In the afternoon we stopped at the cave town of Uplistsikhe. The sun had come out and we were all positively surprised of the magnitude of this cave town up on a hill and the beautiful view so we stayed longer than planned and therefore arrived at our guesthouse in
Mtskheta, a UNESCO heritage site, much later than expected.
After dinner outside on the terrace (it was close to 0 degrees!) 6 of us decided to go for a small walk and get a coffee. Not much was open but we found a small restaurant with just 4 Georgian men eating. It didn't take long before they started talking to us, poured the local fire water Cha Cha into glasses and wanted to say cheers with us. A group of Germans joined us as well. Suddenly the short walk ended up with being several hours in the restaurant tasting dumplings, having a few beers and Cha cha......some being quite tired the next morning,
