No miracles during the
night. Instead the truck looked a little more “drowned” or sunk.
Parts of the cheering yesterday evening included renaming Aziza (our
truck) to A-Sinka.
There was so much traffic on our small dirt road
yesterday afternoon and evening so our driver and guide expected to
hitch hike – but no cars where going in the right direction. And
this morning at 7 am there were no cars going in any direction. At
all. Only the mountains, the horses and us in the middle of nowhere.
We managed to get a nice morning meal and Malene had agreed with our guide that tents and bags didn't have to come down to the truck when breakfast started so we could stay in the tents if it started to rain again. Since Aziza had sunk so much we weren't allowed to stay inside it. So we hung out in the tents, a few people digging some more and our Mongolian two guide and Dragoman guide eventually catching a ride with the only car going in the right direction this morning.
Hours went by and some from the group including our driver continued trying to get our truck out. The dug and collected a lot of rocks to built roads in front and behind the wheels to get the truck on more stabile ground if they eventually got it moved just a bit. And with their great team effort and stubbornness the truck suddenly moved backwards. A tiny bit. But that was enough to keep them working. So more digging, more rock collecting and more building roads. Again with stubbornness and maybe some luck the truck moved again and again. Finally free of the hole. Just in time for our guides to return with a truck to tow us. Which we didn't need then.
We quickly packed the truck and off we were. Driving a bit before stopping for lunch. Better get some kilometres done. All of us a bit anxious because the roads were by no means dry and we have a lot of kilometres ahead of us on dirt roads.
In the afternoon the weather improved we stopped at a nice scenic spot and when we were close to the town out guides thought they could make it to yesterday to get a tow truck (which was a lot further away than they thought) we got stuck again. Our guide Anja was driving and what she thought was the dry option between the trees turned out to be very soft ground. Stuck between the trees. Not handy Well we got the rythm now; digging, collecting rocks, building a road and pushing. We got the truck to move a bit but still stuck. Mikkel decided to go to the nearest ger camp and buy cold beer for all. Big applause from the group. And once again yet another Mongolian family showed up and towed us out.
We made it to the next village, did some quick food shopping and off again to find a nice camp spot. We got a late dinner but found yet another fantastic spot to camp.
