Hiking Paradise at Mount Rainier

The weather had changed during the night. So the 100 days of summer had come to an end. Instead it we a bit windy and wet. Not optimal conditions for a hike but Keith and Sharon knew where to go - Paradise. The hike at Mount Rainier, that is.

We left early in the morning and arrived at the parking lot before 10, getting our gear together and started hiking. The peak of Mount Rainier was covered in clouds but the weather was better then expected and as we hiked the sun also appeared. We saw a lot of wild life including 3 mountain goats - in the distance. Mostly we saw marmots though. Fat and lazy, lying on the rocks soaking in the sun before they go hibernate for the winter.

As we approached 7000 feet the wind picked up but we managed to find a good spot for our lunch and had a wonderful view of the surrounding hillsides and valleys. Then we headed down the mountain and back home.

What a wonderful day.

Meanwhile - Five years ago we left for another epic trip around the world.
