Last hike in the US - heading for LAX

We had plenty of time today. The car had to be back in Portland airport at 8 PM, our plane was leaving for LAX at 10 PM, so with the weather being great and sunny we decided to do some hikes on our 5 hour drive North to Portland.

First stop - Cove Palisades State park. There was a hike listed which would take us up on a plateau. We just had to find the trail head. No success. Instead we found Round Butte Overlook park, did a short 45 minute hike there and took in the impressive views of the gorge, the Mt. Jefferson Mountain in the distance - and of course the sun. And we had it all to ourselves

Then we headed back to find the trail head and hiked along the shores of the reservoir for about 1½ hour before heading North again. Shopped for lunch at a supermarket in Madras, crossed the plains at the hot springs reserve and headed into Mt. Hood National park - and stopped for a late lunch at Trillium lake. It was a bit busy here but that didn't matter.

The views were stunning, the mountain in the distance, a nice lake and us having lunch/dinner-DIY.
There was only a short 1½ hour drive to the airport, we managed to get all our stuff checked in, had coffee at the airport, boarded the plane, and most impressively - made it from touch down on the runway to our hotel room in about 30 minutes. CPH airport could take a few notes here.
It was midnight so we headed for bed. The plane for Chile leaves at 13 PM tomorrow so we have the morning to relax.
