One of the features of Seattle that you notice are the ferries. Constantly arriving or leaving the down town dock area. We saw that yesterday when we spent some time around the harbour and Jana recommended Bainbridge Island to us. So we left early in the morning to catch a ferry.
Since a lot of people use them for commuting to and from Seattle, they depart very often and lucky for us - we didn't have to wait long for the next one to board. It was a wonderful morning, sunny and no wind so even though it was a bit chilly we could enjoy the view of the Seattle skyline from the outside deck.
The crossing takes about 45 minutes and once we got of the ferry we realised that Bainbridge Island is a completely different place. Very quiet, laid back, nice and small. We had coffee and shopped for lunch in the supermarket (there's one) and then took the shuttle bus for 15 minutes to the
Bloedel reserve.
Bloedel Reserve is basically a very big garden with a couple of buildings. We walked there for 1½ hours, enjoying the views and being in "nature". Then we headed back to the ferry and Seattle.
In the evening we joined Jana and went for dinner with Malene's host-sister and family.
