We left the hostel early for a short drive to Uclulet. Today we were going to kayak around a few of the islands in The Broken Group Islands area. It's the place where we originally wanted to do our long kayak trip but we ended up doing a trip north of the island.
The weather had changed to a light rain but it cleared a bit as we drove south. We were going with a big group today it turned out. In single kayaks. Not the heavy doubles we had the other place.
To get from the kayak company to our starting destination was 30 minutes on a big boat going in rather rough seas. We had a few stops to look at seals being lazy on the rocks. Once we got to our starting destination the kayaks were unloaded, we had a short instruction and then we were off. All 12 of us plus two guides. A rather big group.
Being in a single person kayak made it a lot easier to go close to the coast line and look for star fish and other things in the water.
Our lunch stop was on a small island where we had DIY-bagels. We had a chance to relax even though the pace of our group was rather moderate. Just a lot of time to enjoy being in the kayaks.
We got back in the water and headed back towards our pick up point. Arriving there leaving our kayaks and getting back on the big boat. The sun was shining a bit in the afternoon.
Not too much wild life on this trip but the islands were very beautiful. And we have seen the whales.
Going back to the hostel for one more night before leaving Vancouver island. It's been great in Tofino.
