Take two on the payment this morning. We headed for the Peru Treks office and had a somewhat confused guy asking us to sit and wait while he did some briefing for a group at another room. Then he came back to us and we went through the paperwork and payment for the Inca Trail trip and then it was our turn to wait. We spent the waiting time going through some 10 pages of machine written notes about every possible details of our coming trip.
After about 20 minutes we'd been through the basics of the trip including a long list of things we needed to bring - and shop for today. We now knew we had some shopping and re-packing to do. Once done with the practical stuff we wanted to hike up to the top of the hills surrounding the city.
Up to Sacsayhuaman. Or pronounced in English - "sexywoman". It's an open area with ruins of some kind of fortification dating back to the Inca's.
The weather was a bit on and off - a few showers in the morning. Once we got on the way up the steep streets it started to rain and since it continued we decided to do the only sensible thing - head for the place we had veggie food and try their chocolate cake. It was recommended to us by the Swiss guys we met in Rurrenabaque. And they should know about chocolate. The cake was awesome.
The weather didn't clear in the afternoon so we headed back to the hostel and relaxed. Malene booked at trip for tomorrow to Sacred valley. Although not ideal to go on a full day trip the day before the Inca Trail we're still ok with getting up early tomorrow. And see a few places with impressive views and stones as well. We hope.
