Drive to Pingyao

Woke up to a beautiful morning at the caves. Since there was a bit of beer consumption yesterday it wasn't the quickest morning. We had breakfast in the courtyard including some red tea. Then we walked down the mountain, got on the truck and drove for about 4 minutes before being at our first stop – The Dragon Temple.

It was a nice little temple devoted to a black dragon that supposedly was going to protect the people from the Yellow river that ran right next to the temple. Being so early in the morning we had it all to ourselves except for a few souvenir salesmen at the entrance.

The drive to Pingyao took us backtracking a bit through yesterdays road through coal mine country. Everything was covered in black dust. Apart from that nothing special happened. It was a short drive and we were in Pingyao and at the hotel around 1 pm, got the keys to our rooms. It's a very nice little place and most of our rooms are in a little courtyard where it's just us. Once again we have the special beds – these can't be heated though.

Then we flooded the reception with all our dirty laundry only to see it returning to the washing machine in front of the rooms 5 minutes later. A tiny washing machine, two buckets for handwashing and two energetic women are apparently the answer for doing laundry for 20 people. The women tried to make room for all of the clothes on the drying lines but it seemed like an impossible task.

Malene relaxed in the room after the drive, Mikkel went out for lunch with a couple of the others and came back with a collection of Chinglish food signs.

Spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing before heading out for dinner and when we walked back to the hotel we stumbled across – KTV-street. Must do karaoke tomorrow evening.
