Back to normal - relaxing

We relaxed today. No footprints, hikes, monuments, markets. Malene did her Spanish class in the afternoon. We took care of laundry. That's also included in a trip like this.

In the evening we decided to treat ourselves with a nice meal at La Taverne. Good onion soup for starters, great steak for main course. Quiet and nice day

Sucre city sightseeing - La Recoleta

This morning we relaxed, took care of some laundry before Malene went to her Spanish class. We agreed to meet in town later in the afternoon and head up to one of Sucre's main attractions - La Recoleta. It's a pretty square, church, viewpoint and school located on the hillside. It's a short uphill walk from the centre of town and very good for sunset.

We got there just before the sun set over the mountains and had time to stand there and admire the busy square. Then we had a drink at the cafe right next to the square overlooking the town. Then we headed down towards the main square looking for something to have for dinner.

We ended up right on the main square on Metro Cafe. It was busy so we had the last free table - the one in the corner of the cafe, facing the square. We sat there and enjoyed the people and traffic on the square when we suddenly noticed somebody behind us - the four guys from Switzerland we hung out with in Rurrenabaque. We were a bit baffled not really expecting to meet them or anybody else this evening. They joined us for dinner, we updated each other on the last few days of travel experiences and then we said "safe travel" since they were heading to Santa Cruz. Funny small world sometimes.

Yet another wonderful morning

Relaxing in Sucre - for real

Today there was no market that needed a visit in some neighbouring town, no tours, no planned sightseeing. Just relaxing. The weather was great, we had breakfast in the garden at the hostel and then walked a bit around town.

We did go to our own market in Sucre, which is great, shopped some vegetables and a roasted chicken for lunch. On the way back we also visited a couple of the tour companies to hear about day trips - for later in the week.

Malene wanted to do some Spanish lessons now that we were "stationary" for the next few days so she headed out in the afternoon and Mikkel took care of updating the blog.

In the evening there was a bit of catch up from Mikkels 40th birthday - getting some cake with candles - a Danish tradition. Malene had been shopping different cakes on her way home. Nice. More relaxing days to come, please.
