We didn't spend long time at the hostel this morning. It didn't really feel like the place to stay in. Instead we headed towards one of the parks in Miraflores. The traffic was busy and noisy but be tried to ignore it as we walked down the road and eventually made it to the park and the ocean. We headed back another road to the roundabout where the city walk had the meeting point and got there a bit early - only to realise that Mikkel had taken us to the wrong roundabout. Still some time before the city walk would depart we hurried to the other end of Miraflores, met with the group 2 minutes before they headed to the bus stop.
We walked to the only reliable public transportation in Lima - the North/South high speed bus and headed towards the city centre. We got there in time to see the change of guards at the presidents office and then our two guides entertained at bit with the history of Peru, the Spanish occupation, the incas and some more incas. In then end we thought it was a bit too much Inca, so we quit the walking tour we the group headed towards an Alpacha shop and had menu del dia at a local place.
Later we walked down the main pedestrian road, looked at a few shops and suddenly we bumped into one of the Korean girls from our sandboarding trip in Huacachina the other day. We had a chat with her before heading back to Miraflores and one of the bigger shopping malls there - Larcomar. After some coffee we did some window shopping only to realise that prices here were a bit higher than at home. Then we headed for the other big mall - Jockey Plaza and the H&M store there.
We can now say that we have managed to visit 50% of all H&M stores on a continent - South America currently having two H&Ms in total. One in Lima, the other in Santiago. It's not going to stay like that for long.
Coming back to the hostel after having survived traffic in Lima we just felt like relaxing. No cinema or fancy restaurants. Instead we found a nice, quiet place around the corner, had super good food, headed back to the hostel and got our things ready for the 9 AM bus to Huaraz. Happy we didn't book any more days in Lima. It's not our city in any way.
