Santa Catalina - beach and relax

We woke up early - like at dawn. The three other guys staying in our dorm did their best to be quiet leaving for their morning surf. Staying at a surfer hostel the daily rhythm is determined by the cycle of tide and of course waves. We however didn't have any plans to leave the bed early. So we stayed in bed a few more hours before going outside - in the hammocks doing a bit of reading and a bit of relaxing. Santa Catalina is quiet and there is little internet access - like none at our hostel, so we could enjoy the morning with few things disturbing us.

In the afternoon Malene got a bit restless so we took a walk around town to see if we could sign up for a Padi Trial Dive - the Padi Experience. A few places already sold out but we got on the "maybe" list and were told to be back at 5 in the afternoon for confirmation of the trip. So we walked to the beach at the other end of town, did a swim, watched the surfers taking opportunity of the tide coming in and pretty much chilled in the afternoon sun.

Once we got back to the dive shop they told us we were the only ones on the list with one more person being interesting which at the end was not enough to do the trip. Cross the street and then we signed up with another dive shop only to be surprised when Jen - from our San Blas trip - was also in the queue. She was "the other person" on the list of the other shop, she also wanted to go diving and apparently Boquete was a little to quiet and "too many retired Americans". So she headed for Santa Catalina instead. We had dinner at her place which was a bit out of town but with a nice garden.

Exciting morning tomorrow - first dive ever. Hope the water is clean and the fish are ready.

Relax

Relax some more
