Yet another lazy day at the Bungalow

No plans for today whatsoever. Breakfast, Skype, update blog, relax, read a bit of a book, chill out with David, maybe go for a swim in the ocean.

We decided to take a tuk-tuk in the afternoon to Organos. Only having tried one meal at the place cooked by Julio - dinner the first night - we still felt like there was more value for money going somewhere else and Bambu restaurant had it all - including a nice view of the beach.

Good food again and then a tuk-tuk back to the bungalows. Tonight we watched TV for the first time in weeks. Julio made pop-corn (a dish he masters) and we got ready for the World Cup qualification match between Peru and Paraguay. Peru had to win not having won a single match so far. They did win 1-0 and the whole country seemed to party and cheer according to the news we saw on the TV.

We're leaving tomorrow for Ecuador and the mountains. Not sure its a good decision - because the beach seems pretty good right now - but Ecuador here we come. A few days in mainland Ecuador before heading to the Galapagos later this month.

We're leaving Peru with a bit of mixed feelings and experiences. No doubt we've see some wonderful places and gotten some great experiences, but in the southern part of Peru it was so incredible touristy that it definitely took part of the charm away from the places. Some people love to take pictures with women holding a small lamb on the main plaza well it's just not our favourite travelling thing to do. From Cusco we visited the Sacred Valley on the most touristy/souvenirs tour ever! We came, we walked and we saw Machu Picchu - a beautiful 4 day hike, a fantastic group and yes Machu Picchu is impressive, BUT a true tourist circus on the hike. North of Lima everything got more quiet and Peru became nicer. It was SO much better to come to Huaraz where we did two beautiful day hikes with no fuss or souvenirs surrounding us on the trails.
In Peru we got the first taste of x-mas with some decorations and x-mas trees. We didn't get to taste the guinea pigs though, but from what we've heard we haven't missed out on anything.

Not much to do but to look at the birds catching fish in the sea

Good food, good drinks and good company
