Another lazy day at the Bungalow

We wanted to head out a bit earlier this morning. Of course that didn't happen. Instead we managed to do a bit of Skype, saying hello to friends and family without the annoying cut outs that happen when there are too many sharing the same internet connection. Not here. Just us - and David.

We finally left for Mancora around 12, and walked along the beach. This stretch seemed to be a little more busy with people at the resorts, the occasional guy trying to sell hats, sunglasses or whatever they drag around. No dead sea lions here. We asked Julio about them last night and he said the local fishermen kill them - club, stab or shoot them when they take the fish from the nets. That's the price for our ceviche as well.

After 1½ hours we made it to Mancora, the beach here definitely being busy. We walked down a narrow road leading from the beach and had menu del dia at the first place we came across. Starter, main course and a glass of juice for 15 soles. And great food.
Then we headed to the main road and looked for our mandatory souvenir - a fridge magnet. This place was much more touristed than Organos. Many small stalls and shops selling crap and souvenirs and a lot of places serving food and drinks. We also had to get bus tickets for our trip to Ecuador. Lots of small offices advertising tickets but we wanted to go to the main office - which turned out to be closed. A guy sitting outside telling us that the woman "might be back at 5 pm". So we bought tickets at a local agent for the morning departure to Cuenca in Ecuador. The only company that seem to operate the route was CIFA who has a 50/50 reputation. Some traveller stories seem pretty bad. Fingers crossed we are going to have a smooth ride.

Speaking of "smooth ride" we got a tuk tuk back to the bungalows and had one more round of bumpy road. We made it back for a nice swim in the ocean and a few more drinks for sunset. More Skype and online travel planning during the evening. It's nice to be lazy at the ocean.
