The non-existing day - crossing the international date line (Los Angeles - Taipei direct non stop flight (LAX-TPE))

Taking off just before midnight from Los Angeles and heading west meant that we crossed the date line a few hours later. It also meant that we more or less skipped the 27th of January completely. Weird technicality but we compensated for this earlier on our trip when we had the flight from Seoul to Vancouver crossing the date line the opposite direction thus arriving in Vancouver some hours before departing from Seoul - even more weird. Timezones are strange - even stranger to know that our 14 hour flight would take us 16 timezones away from Los Angeles to Taipei.
