We dropped the anchor at around 4 AM and the engine stopped making it a lot easier to sleep. At 6 AM we got up and were ready to jump in the water at 7 AM - Mikkels first real dive. We spent the next 45 minutes diving off the coast of the island looking for fish - and hoping to see manta rays.
Mikkel and his instructor saw one just before they got out the water. This big fish weighing more than 1000 kilos look so elegant when they float in the water. Off to a good start. Malenes dive was also great with lots to look at. And once again a manta ray was spotted. Koh Tachai is not as busy with divers as some of the other places. Fantastic dives to start the live aboard with. No need to say that everybody had big smiles on their faces.
Then it was time to go into the liveaboard-mode which basically means dive, food and relax. And of course tell stories about just how big that fish was. It was a mixed group of mostly men on the boat, some having done a few dives and one doing his dive number 300 during our trip.
We had breakfast, and then we got ready for the 10:30 AM dive on the pinnacle at Koh Tachai. Another slightly deeper and really good dive with lots of fish and reef to look at. We got deep - 20 metres and spent almost 45 minutes in the water again. Once again Malene was lucky to see mata rays. Not as close as at Koh Bon on the last live aboard but still fantastic.
Back on the boat, lunch and time to relax while we did the short transit to Koh Bon, the place we snorkelled and dived last week when we were in Khao Lak. We had two dives in the afternoon. One at 2 PM and the other at 5:30 looking for manta's but they were a bit reluctant to show up this afternoon. But lots of other good things to look at and also some time for Mikkel and his instructor to do more exercises underwater for the PADI course.
We went to bed early, the boat not moving tonight since we are going to dive at Koh Bon in the morning - 7 AM first dive.
