Last day on the beach - for now

Lazy morning. Kind of gotten used to them now. The whole place felt a lot more relaxed today than yesterday. Maybe some more people yesterday due to the weekend? How knows. It was anyway dead quiet when we walked down to the beach to met Katrine, Jeppe and Karl.

We had lunch at "our place" one final time today with great Thai food to share. Including our favorite "Som Tam" green papaya salad. This one a little spicy. But still great. And then back to the beach for some more reading, relaxing, a final sunset drink the Nicaraguan Flor de Cana rum (yes, the bottle is broken :-)) before walking down the beach for seafood dinner.

Koh Yao Yai has been so nice to us that we don't really want to move but there are other interesting places on our bucket list so we are leaving with the others tomorrow morning. Not early though.

The laundry fairy is also working hard on Koh Yao Yai

Breakfast, Internet, Online banking, Skype. Lots of practical things to do

Quiet morning

Still quiet

Still nothing happening

Lets find a spot on the beach then

Food and entertainment - 2 in 1

Will probably not be tired of Thai food - ever

Last pineapple-rum drink (highly recommended)

Lets have fish tonight

Back on Hanson Island.

Getting used to waiting for the right tide and slack - also this morning. We headed out with the kayaks around 10 - a little bit late in our opinion. Today's course set for the opposite end of Hanson Island. A nice short trip. We kayaked around Swanson Island yesterday afternoon and it feels a little tired in the upper body this morning.

Another quiet morning with a few whales in the distance but we want them closer. Not least because our camera died last night so we can only do photos with the camera in our phones which means no zoom.

Before heading to Hanson Island we back tracked a bit a had a lunch stop on Mound Island on a small beach. Soaking in the sun and watching how the small fish followed the tide as it came in. At the same time keeping an eye on our kayak since tide here is between 3-4 meters - and it comes and goes fast.

At high tide we paddles back towards Hanson Island following the coast North. The camp site turned out to be in a small bay and once we had our kayaks unpacked we did lunch - and headed back on the water again. The sun was shining in the afternoon so there was probably no better place than to be out there. We tried our luck and Mikkel pulled a couple of crab pods out of the water - but no dinner in there :-) A no wildlife except for a seal that was a bit curious - and then too afraid to get close to our kayak,

We had a lazy afternoon on the rocks enjoying the sun and before dinner, Malene decided it was time for a swim, so we had a cold a refreshing swim.

One last campfire before going to bed. Tomorrow the whales better be there - and close to us.

Eagle and yurts in Issyk Kul

Left homestay, shopped for camp food and headed towards tonight's camp site. A yurt camp close to the Issyk Kul lake.

The stop of the day included a falconer showing his bird. We stopped in the middle of nowhere and there he was. Dressed in traditional costume. From the back of his car he took an eagle that was fairly big. Everyone got a chance to hold the eagle. Then the man took out a rabbit – also from his car. Let the rabbit loose and walked up the hill towards the top. Then he let the eagle loose and it dived straight for the rabbit. The rabbit managed to escape the eagles first attempt but soon ended as the lunch for the eagle.

The weather forecast didn't look the best for the next two days so our guides changed the wild camp to a yurt stay. A The new people hadn't tried to stay in a yurt yet so it was a good opportunity for them to try it. It's early in the season so instead of the yurt people cooking us dinner we prepared our own dinner.

Instead of being bad the weather decided on sunshine and blue sky for the afternoon and since we stayed right on the edge of the lake a few people went swimming. Good dinner at the camp fire and then some drinks. Getting ready for our swim in the morning.
