Ulaanbataar fly-by and last camp

Left our camp site early this morning. Not because of a long drive or difficult roads or any other of the normal reasons. This morning we simply left early in order to be at our next and last camp site as early as possible.

The idea was to cross through Ulaanbataar and go to the national park on the east side of the city. Find a nice place to camp and then chill out one last time.

It took a couple of hours to reach UB, then an hour to make it through the city centre and traffic. We had a short booze/beer-stop at a supermarket (where the power was out, making shopping a little bit more fun), before finally heading out to Gorkhi Terelj National Park.

Given that it is the park closest to UB it is way more developed and "crowded" than the other places we've been in the past weeks. So we ended up having lunch next to the Turtle rock looking at the other tourists in the taxis and mini buses. Then we decided to look for something a little further away. Not easy but after a few unsuccessful attempts we found a green hillside, not too far from a river and that's where we put up tents one last time.

We headed for the river and had a nice time hanging out in the sun, looking at people, horses and vehicles crossing the relatively deep water. Then back to the camp taking in more evening sunshine, a few extra drinks, a nice dinner, get the camp fire going and then somebody came up with the idea of drinking the rest of the alcohol on the truck. Not easy but doable. Some people didn't sleep in their own tents (they are so difficult to find when it gets dark), others decided to drag stuff around the camp (you never know when you need a chair) and yet others decided to do yoga in the dark or drive around on a moped semi-drunk. We had a fun night.
